How does Overseas Delivery work? It's this simple:
Step #1
Order the Volvo of your choice from Volvo of Cincinnati on Plainville Rd. or Volvo of
Cincinnati on Muhlhauser Rd.
Step #2
Pick up your new Volvo at the Gothenburg Factory Delivery Center or at any
official delivery location. We will register your new car for your stay in
Europe and walk you through the process of getting European insurance, as
well as provide you with the protection of the Volvo On Call Service.
Step #3
Test your Volvo out on the roads of Sweden, either with one of Volvo's
spectacular tours or on your own. Then head anywhere you please in Europe.
Step #4
Drop off your Volvo in Gothenburg or any official drop-off location. Volvo
will
ship it to you and take care of all the problems that make importing a car
difficult, from excise taxes to import duties.

Programs
If you're a tourist, a diplomat, or in the military, you can have
your new Volvo delivered to any one of 13 European destinations, drive
it during your stay there, and then have it delivered to your home in
the U.S. after you return. If you're an expatriate, you can only purchase
a U.S. specification Volvo for direct shipment to the U.S.
The different programs are listed below.
Tourist Program
To be eligible for the Overseas Delivery Program as part of our tourist
program, you must be a U.S. resident and have both a valid driver's license
and a passport. You must also be at least 18 years old. Although we're sure
you could spend a lifetime exploring Europe, you must bring your new Volvo
back to the United States within six months of taking European delivery to
remain exempt from a levy of VAT (25% of purchase price in Swedish krona) by
the Swedish tax authorities.

Expatriate Program
To be eligible for Overseas Delivery as part of our expatriate
program, you must have a valid passport as well as proof of expatriate
status (such as an employment contract or housing agreement), which must
be submitted with your car order. You must also establish residence in
the U.S. for an extended period (i.e., longer than six months). This
program is primarily designed for European nationalities temporarily
residing in the U.S. and offers a unique way to buy a U.S. specification
Volvo.
Types of Volvos Available
Qualified expatriates can only purchase U.S. specification Volvos for
direct shipment to the U.S. Delivery outside the U.S. can unfortunately
not be accommodated.

Picking Up
Convenience is a fundamental part of our Overseas Delivery program. So,
when its time to take delivery of your new Volvo, you have the option of
picking it up from the Gothenburg Factory Delivery Center or one of 11 other
delivery centers located throughout Europe.

Bringing Your Volvo Home
The Volvo Home Shipment Program makes bringing a car back from Europe quick
and easy. All you have to do is drive your Volvo to any of the 18 official
Home Shipment Agents throughout Europe and present us with the Volvo Home
Shipment voucher (plus any other required documents). Volvo then ships
your new vehicle to us.

Free Shipping
The Volvo Home Shipment Program handles most of the charges. In fact,
shipping is free of charge as long as it happens within six months of pickup
in Europe. You only pay to transport your Volvo from your preferred drop-off
point to the loading port. Or you can use the transport services from
Gothenburg and pay nothing at all.
